Meet The Team

I have a special interest in helping people overcome their fears. I qualified at Newcastle University in 1989 and was invited to the Charles Clifford Dental School as a house officer working at Sheffield Dental, Children’s and Hallamshire Hospitals.

I then worked as a senior house officer at Burton General Hospital in both oral and maxillofacial surgery and orthodontics during which time I assisted in many operations both using general and local anaesthesia.

I have also gained a great deal of experience working extensively in general practice until 1998 when I joined the partnership at Arnold Dental.

I am an active member of the British Dental Association and have been on the Nottingham Local Dental Committee, Nottingham Primary Care Trust Liaison Committee and Trent Region Liaison Committee.

My other interests are my two daughters, enjoying swimming training (especially early mornings at 5 am), triathlon, open water swimming, cycling and walking.

Having grown up in Nottingham I was lucky enough to attend Birmingham University, graduating in 2008. I have been awarded a Diploma by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and have spent recent years with an interest in Implant dentistry, going on to achieve a certificate in implantology. I am now also honoured to be teaching implantology.

In my downtime, I enjoy partaking in the sport of clay shooting, beard grooming (my own that is) and volunteering for the ‘Guru Nanak Mission Nottm’ where we prepare and distribute food to the less fortunate within Nottingham City Centre. Volunteers are always welcome so check out the Facebook page. For me, it has been an exceptionally humbling and compassionate experience.

I came to the UK at the age of 10 years to join my father who was a British Army Gurkha in the Signals Squadron. I attended The Blandford School before graduating from The University of Sheffield in 2014 as a dental surgeon. My first position was in Birmingham where my interest in restorative treatments (veneers, crowns, fillings) and endodontics (root canal therapy) came to fruition. Since qualifying, I have had the privilege of working in Birmingham before moving to Hucknall and I have now established myself at Arnold Dental and even have special wallpaper which you must see to believe!!. I particularly enjoy working with children and nervous patients, finding the challenge of helping worried individuals overcome their fears just as satisfying as achieving clinical excellence. I have carried out further postgraduate education in endodontics, and now in orthodontics using Invisalign, whilst continuing to attend courses in all specialities. I am also qualified to carry out short term orthodontics (braces) and in-surgery cosmetic whitening procedures. Away from dentistry, my hobbies are mainly centred around the gym and football, being a life-long Liverpool supporter!

I came to the UK from Barbados to undertake my undergraduate training at the University of Manchester, graduating with Honours in the summer of 2006. I then moved to Nottingham to start my dental career and have stayed in Nottingham every since. I have a love for learning and have since completed several postgraduate courses, including a diploma from Bristol University. Through my postgraduate diploma, I have gained further knowledge and experience in periodontology (gum disease), tooth wear and oral surgery enabling me to enhance the quality of the dental care that I provide at Arnold Dental. Outside of work, I’m an active member in my church and also enjoy walking, reading and the cinema (and of course heading home to the beach as often as I can!).

I studied dentistry at the University of Manchester and qualified in 2011.  I completed my foundation training near my home town in Kent as well as attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Dental Care with the University of Kent. I moved to Nottingham in 2012 and have enjoyed working within general practice ever since.

I particularly enjoy how my job can help to bring back someone’s confidence and make them feel more comfortable with their smile. I am an Invisalign provider and am currently studying towards a Diploma in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, keeping active at the gym and spending time with my family.

I studied dentistry at the University of Leeds and qualified in 2011 and achieved the Jane Livingstone-Gregory Prize in Periodontology (treatment of gum disease). I moved to Nottingham in 2014 and have worked in both NHS and private practices and have completed the prestigious Paul Tipton certificate in restorative dentistry. My interest is in gum disease and I intend to complete further courses in the field of periodontology in the future. I am of the ethos prevention is better than cure and enable patients to take control over their oral health. I enjoy helping nervous patients overcome their anxieties and feel comfortable with dental treatment. 

Outside of work, I like to travel and experience new cultures with my wife, family and friends. I enjoy an active lifestyle, particularly swimming and am a regular gym-goer. I follow most sports, especially football, cricket and athletics.

I joined the Royal Navy as a dental nurse in 1989 and got selected to do the diploma course for dental hygiene. I qualified at the Royal Army Dental Corps Aldershot in 1992, as this was a tri-service facility for the armed forces. I started working in Kirkby in Ashfield in 2001 and then came to Arnold Dental in 2007.

I have a lovely son and daughter and enjoy running and reading – and of course, a clean and healthy mouth.

Having worked as a dental nurse and Oral Health Educator in local schools, I went on to qualify as a dental hygienist in 1988. My interests in understanding dental phobias and associated dental anxiety lead me to qualify as a psychoanalytical and psychotherapeutic counsellor in 2012, as well as holding a clinical hypnosis and relaxation qualification gained in 2011.

These skills allow me to be a person-centred hygienist with many years’ experience alleviating dental anxiety whilst helping to improve oral health and gum disease. I adopt a gentle and compassionate approach. I have had an article published on the prevention of tooth decay in children, and have a keen interest in helping to improve self-esteem whilst overcoming dental fears. My hobbies include playing in a brass band and keeping fit and looking after my ever-growing army of furry and feathered friends I share my garden with!!
