Sometimes, we find all it takes to help a patient feel calm and comfortable at the dentist is an excellent chairside manner and being listened to. We hear only too often that people are afraid of the dentist and this is something we work very hard to avoid – just take a look at our testimonials page to read what lots of once-phobic patients have to say about our care.
Being frightened of the dentist can mean that you avoid your essential dental health examinations, only booking an appointment when you are in pain or have a dental emergency. We understand this but would like to explain that we do all we can to help put nervous patients at ease, so that eventually you may even look forward to your appointments.
We try to make sure our appointments are unhurried and any treatment is taken at a speed you are comfortable with.

Let us know that you’re nervous, have had a bad experience in the past, or are particularly worried about one aspect of dentistry and we can set your mind at ease. Ask any questions you feel necessary and receive empathetic answers from our professional and friendly staff.
Dental and hygiene appointments are important because they introduce us to your teeth. From here, we can spot any warning signs of dental problems developing and advise you on how best to take care of your teeth at home. Regular appointments allow us to note and track these changes, so we can follow any improvements or developments together. By communicating with our team, we can establish a relationship with you first before we even think about treatments and examinations. Ask questions, talk openly with us, and we’ll respond with all due understanding and empathy. We can make a bespoke coping strategy tailored to your emotions and fear being the most overpowering we can develop coping strategies using tailored exercises and help. If you do come back for a treatment, we’ll develop a stop signal with you so that you can put the treatment on pause and have a break at any time. We’ll never rush your appointments, and we won’t carry out any treatments on your first meeting with us either.
