Your Invisalign Journey
One of the main reasons why people delay getting braces, is because they feel apprehensive about how they’ll look wearing them. The word braces tends to conjure up a picture in people’s minds of metal brackets and wires, sticking prominently out of the mouth, possibly even with bits of food stuck on them. The reality of Invisalign braces from our Nottingham clinic is quite different!
Invisalign is a revolutionary braces system, which is why it has changed the lives of over 5 million people. It doesn’t involve anything being bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth, but rather transparent aligner trays, which fit comfortably over the upper and lower rows of teeth, rather like sports mouth-guards, but far more discreet.
You’ll have a series of aligner trays fitted during the course of your treatment, with each one designed to further the journey of your teeth. They will pull your teeth into a neater, more attractive position. They’re thin, very hard to see, and custom-made to fit your mouth exactly. Your friends are unlikely to be able to tell you’re wearing braces at all, especially as they should be removed before you eat and brush your teeth. This means if you go out for a meal with friends, you won’t even be wearing them!
What you should know before committing to Invisalign
In order for your treatment to finish on the date you’ve been estimated, you’ll need to be compliant in wearing them every day and night for at least 20 hours in every 24 hour period. If you’re a parent considering investing in Invisalign for your teenager, you’ll be able to check they’re wearing their aligner trays often enough by means of a blue dot indicator on the side, which alerts you to when a new aligner tray is due. This date needs to correspond with the forecast given by your orthodontist.
The average treatment time is approximately 12 months and it’s worth bearing mind that, although Invisalign offers its users many benefits over traditional braces and it fixes a lot of alignment problems, it’s not suitable for everyone. Your orthodontist will be able to give you a better idea of whether your bite problems, overlapping, or protruding teeth can be corrected with Invisalign when you visit us here at our Nottingham Invisalign clinic for your initial consultation.
The Invisalign Process
During your first Nottingham Invisalign braces appointment, you’ll be shown a 3D image of how your teeth will look, once the treatment is over. You’ll see your new smile in its full glory on the computer screen. After this, you’ll have moulds made of your teeth, from which the aligner trays can be fashioned. After the first fitting, you might find the trays feel quite tight, but they’ll soon become much more comfortable. You will marvel at how discreet they are!
You’ll visit our orthodontist practice here in Nottingham a few times during the course of your treatment to receive your news trays and to have your progress checked. It’s our job to ensure your teeth are moving as they should be, but should any problems arise, we’ll be on hand to fix them. Could you be the confident owner of a beautiful new smile soon?
